Mohamed Shareef

Chairman

Shareef received his Bachelor of Science in Building Engineering in 1991 at Coventry University, UK and gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Airport Engineering in 1992 at the Nanyang Technological University & Singapore Aviation Academy.
He started his professional career at Maldives Airports Authority as Building Engineer and in 1995 he was elevated to the position of Senior Engineer. In 1998, he was promoted to the position of Deputy Director, Projects and Planning at the newly established Maldives Airports Company where he was the head of Projects and Planning Services Section and in 2003 he was again promoted to the position of Director. His work at Maldives Airports Company involved implementing of two major upgrading projects at Male International Airport, culminating in Phase IV that included a Pier extension to the Passenger Terminal, New Domestic Terminal, New Control Tower and state of the art ATC/ACC facilities and new Power House. Simultaneously, he managed the production of a comprehensive Master Plan for Male International. In 2007, Shareef resigned from Maldives Airports Company and started working fulltime at Gedor.
In 1993, whilst working at Maldives Airports Authority, Shareef, with two other partners set up Gedor Architecture as a part time office with one draftsperson. In Shareef’s 20 plus career span, he has designed a number of tourist resorts, residential and commercial buildings, mosques, schools and airports. He also contributed to developmental studies such as Addu Land Use Plan, National Transport Master Plan and Regional Development Project Phase II. He has attended a number of carrier related training programmes, workshops, seminars and conferences.
Shareef’s work includes structural design work for world renowned hotel and resort operators such as JW Marriott, Bvlgari and One and Only. He was also involved in structural design work of a number of other resorts such as Hakuraa Hura, Berinmadhoo and Reethi Beach Resort.  In addition, he has carried out extensive work in airports planning, designing and supervision. VILLA Airport at Maamigili is one that Shareef has been involved from the very initial stages, a project that is now nearing completion.

Currently, Shareef is the Chairman of Gedor Architecture,heads the Civil Engineering Department of Gedor and is an Accredited Professional Engineer.
